Ronkonkoma man dead in alleged DWI crash

Police say a Ronkonkoma man was killed in a crash that involved an alleged drunken driver on the Long Island Expressway.
Authorities say Raj Jadeja was drunk behind the wheel at around 2:15 a.m. Saturday when he slammed into a car driven by George Ragotte. The collision happened just east of the exit for Sunnyside Boulevard.
Ragotte was stuck in his car after the impact, and had to be extricated by first responders. The 21-year-old was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead.
Jadeja, 34, of Brooklyn, was injured and was hospitalized. Officials say he now faces charges of manslaughter and DWI.
Police say Ragotte had slowed to avoid the remnants of an earlier collision involving two other cars when his own vehicle was struck from behind by Jadeja.
The crash shut down lanes on the expressway for several hours this morning, but all have since been reopened.
