A Brentwood woman is accused of intentionally hitting a pedestrian with her car and then taking off.
Police say Kendra Sterling ran down Shaquita Passmore on Wheeler Road in Central Islip on Friday evening.
After Sterling drove away, she got into a multi-car crash at the intersection of Suffolk and Lowell avenues, according to officials.
Passmore is being treated for non-life-threatening head and facial injuries.
A man who reportedly witnessed the hit-and-run says he sprang into action and tried to stop the alleged fleeing driver. Stephen Vogt says he hopped on his motorcycle and gave chase, even yelling at the driver to stop.
"I'm not going to let them get away because God forbid it was my daughter or someone I knew and being in recovery 15 years I need to do the next right thing," Vogt says.
