Police probe string of burglaries in Yaphank
Suffolk County police are investigating a string of recent burglaries in Yaphank.
Detectives say there have been three burglaries and four attempted burglaries in the past two weeks on Jefferson Commons and Rutledge Commons. The latest occurred Monday morning, when someone tried to break into a home.
Charles Muller says he was asleep on his couch last Thursday when a thief broke into his home. The burglar allegedly got in through the kitchen window -- just feet away from where Muller was sleeping. The victim says the thief made off with his cellphone, $5 and some food.
Another resident, Brian Yoli, says a thief stole almost $200 from his home.
Police believe the break-ins may be connected, and are urging homeowners to be vigilant.
No arrests have been made in connection with any of the incidents.
