Uniondale teacher pleads not guilty to raping minor

A Uniondale High School teacher accused of raping a minor has pleaded not guilty.

Lionel Harvey was indicted on multiple charges, including rape of a girl under the age of 13. Harvey was arrested back in May.

Officials have never confirmed whether the child is a student at Harvey's Uniondale school or from another district.

According to a four-page indictment, the most serious charge Harvey faces is rape in the first degree. Police say that in the complaint filed in District Court, Harvey forced a girl younger than 13 to have sex with him inside his home.

School officials say Harvey was reassigned and told to stay away from their properties and activities during the case.

He is free on $150,000 bond and due back in court Sept. 14.
