Man accused of hijacking car, beating up man

A Levittown man is under arrest following a bizarre string of crimes.

Police say Patrick Hayden jumped into a truck left idling in front of a Chevrolet dealership on South Broadway in Hicksville.

According to police, he drove the truck south where he stopped randomly and beat up a 74-year-old man in an unprovoked attack.

Police say the 23-year-old then drove to Ultimate Gym on Bloomingdale Road and gave them the wallet the owner left in his truck. The gym owner called police.

Hayden was arrested and is currently undergoing an evaluation at the hospital.
