Police: 2 reports of groping at Belmont Lake State Park
Police patrols were stepped up at Belmont Lake State Park Tuesday after two separate reports of a man groping women.
State Park police say a man on a bicycle reached out and grabbed the arm of a young woman who was running alone on a trail just after 5 p.m. Monday. Authorities say the victim started to yell, and the man took off.
A few minutes later, officials say he found a second victim.
Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man with a thin build and spiky hair. Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to call State Park Police at 631-321-3741.
A sign at the park urges people to run or walk with a partner, to wear a whistle to summon assistance and to report unusual activity to park staff or police.
