Assisted living worker accused of stealing from resident

An assisted living facility worker was arraigned Tuesday for allegedly stealing money from a 90-year-old woman she was caring for.
Adassa Clark, 61, of Hempstead, was arrested Monday at Bristol Assisted Living facility in East Meadow.
Police say Clark, who is a medical technician, went into a woman's room to give her medication and took cash out of her pocketbook on August 3. She was charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent person.
Clark's attorney told the judge that the suspect has no prior criminal record. He also said the resident Clark allegedly stole from has dementia and that there's "no reason Clark would risk her career."
Clark was released from jail and will be back in court on Thursday.
Bristal Assisted Living has released a statement saying in part, "Our cooperation with the police in the investigation and successful conclusion of this matter underscores our rigorous enforcement of New York State registry rules for assisted living employees and our continued vigilance to prevent any reoccurrence of this type of crime."
Police are looking for anyone who may have been a victim to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
