Health officials warn of blue-green algae in local waters
Health officials are advising against swimming in several local bodies of water due to the proliferation of a blue-green algae.
Officials say a cyanobacteria has exceeded bloom criteria at Wainscott Pond in Wainscott, Agawam Lake and Mill Pond in Southampton, and Maratooka Lake in Mattituck.
If you come in contact with the algae, officials say to rinse off immediately.
Officials say to contact a doctor if you begin to feel sick.
