Tree crashes through roof, pins woman

A Great Neck woman is lucky to be alive after a 2-ton oak tree toppled onto her roof, burst into her bedroom and trapped her in her bed.
The 20-year-old woman was sleeping when the tree collapsed onto her family's Wooley's Lane East home. She was pinned beneath the tree for more than two hours.
Fire officials say the woman's parents and a sibling were home at the time. One ran across the street to get help from a neighbor who is a paramedic.
Several fire departments and Nassau's Emergency Services Unit responded to the scene and were able to free the woman from underneath the tree, which had stood in a neighbor's yard.
David Cion was among the workers who were at the house Monday to inspect the damage and to try to remove the 85-foot oak. "I think the girl was literally surrounded by angels," he says. "The tree right now is literally resting dead center of her bed. I got choked up. "
Cion says the center of the tree was rotted through.
The woman remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition after suffering multiple trauma injuries, according to police.
