Search underway for Long Island native in CA

Crews were searching the El Dorado National Forest in California Sunday for a missing Long Island native.

Officials say Ed Cavanaugh, who is in his 40s, is a known "survivalist," but his family says it is unlike him to be gone this long. Relatives are also worried that he may need insulin to control his diabetes.

He was last seen more than a week ago riding an ATV into the forest near the Nevada border.

Cavanaugh, who is a graduate of Saint Anthony's High School, teaches students at Downtown High School in San Francisco.
