Hundreds mourn bike-riding teen killed by car

Friends and family gathered at a candlelight vigil Friday to mourn the Hempstead teen killed in a car accident last week.
Hundreds turned out in memory of Ka'Juan Polley, 15, who was struck by an unlicensed driver while riding his bicycle near the intersection of Front Street and Cameron Avenue.
Friends and family recalled Polley's friendly demeanor and infectious smile.
He attended Friends Academy in Locust Valley, where student director Ron Baskind said he will be missed on campus.
Not only was the teen a good student, he was a star guard on the basketball team as well.
Family members said Polley had aspirations to play at Duke University in North Carolina.
"He was very good at basketball," said former teammate Jordan Stone, 18. "He probably would have made it pretty big."
