2 sharks spotted at Tobay Beach

Visitors and lifeguards at Tobay Beach say they spotted two sharks near the shore Thursday at around noon.
Lifeguards ordered swimmers out of the water as a precaution. The two sharks were reportedly about 6 feet long and swimming toward Gilgo Beach.
Officials say the sharks may be coming closer than usual to shore because fishermen have been leaving bait in the water.
Authorities were on alert for about two hours following the sightings before giving the all-clear for swimmers to return to the water.
Nassau police responded with helicopters, boats and by land.
Lifeguards will remain on high-alert, town officials say.
