Bayport man fumes over slow gas leak

A slow gas leak in front of a Bayport home has the owner fuming over the smell, he says.

Greg Shea says he can't open his windows or spend time in the yard because of the lingering odor of natural gas outside his home on the corner of Middle Road and Gillette Avenue.

Neighbors walking or jogging nearby have also called the fire department on several occasions in alarm, he says.

Shea says he's reported the leak to National Grid numerous times over the past two years and was told the company would repair it.

The company began work on the valve earlier in the week, but the fix remains incomplete.

A representative of National Grid says a crew will return later in the week to complete repairs.
