Cops: Dad drove drunk on LIE with 3 unbelted boys
A man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk on the Long Island Expressway with his three young sons unrestrained in the back seat.
Police say a highway patrol officer noticed a Honda vehicle swerving and failing to maintain its lane on Sunday at around 1:30 a.m. The officer pulled the driver over near Exit 32.
Nassau police say an investigation revealed the driver, 45-year-old Kingsley Chukwu, of Middletown, New York, was under the influence of alcohol.
Police say Chukwu's 6-year-old son and twin 4-year-old sons were not wearing seat belts. Chukwu's 38-year-old wife was in the front seat, police say.
Chukwu was arrested and his vehicle was impounded. The boys were released to their mother.
Chukwu is chaged with three counts of aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations, police say.
