Duo caught on camera in boutique theft
Some Long Island stores are on alert after a man and woman were caught on video allegedly stealing from a boutique.
In May, a man and woman were captured on an in-store camera at Revival Boutique in Roslyn stealing a $12,000 purse, according to employees. Employees say the duo was very knowledgeable about designer brands and that the man and woman worked to distract and separate store workers.
Surveillance video appears to show the male suspect take the bag off the shelf, hide it under a coat and then slip into the dressing room. The woman then walks out.
They realized that the purse was stolen after the duo left.
Store owner Elyssa Rosenbaum says she believes the same duo stole Chanel bags two years ago, but at that time, the male suspect was dressed in drag.
Another purse was snatched from the Perfect Purse in Southampton. This time the item was a $14,000 Burkin bag, also taken in May.
Other stores have been targeted in Sag Harbor and East Hampton.
The boutique owners have all filed police reports. They estimate the total value of the stolen goods is about $80,000 to $100,000.
