Store worker attacked with meat cleaver during robbery

Police say a Freeport food store worker was attacked with a meat cleaver during a robbery.

Michael Everett, 55, of Hempstead, is now facing charges in connection to the incident.

Police say Everett tried to steal food from the Compare Foods store on Merrick Road Tuesday night.

When confronted, Everett allegedly tried to hit a security guard with a mini-meat cleaver that was hidden in his waistband.

No one was injured in the incident.
