(AP) The confetti will be flying in lower Manhattan as New York City holds a parade for the U.S. women's soccer team after its World Cup victory.
The parade has been scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. along Broadway from the Battery to City Hall. That's known as the "Canyon of Heroes."
Mayor Bill de Blasio will host a special program at City Hall.
The team defeated Japan 5-2 on Sunday in Canada to win the World Cup.
The New York Yankees have gotten parades when they've won the World Series, and the New York Giants have been celebrated when they've won the Super Bowl.
The events have been known as ticker-tape parades, from the ticker tape that was showered down upon those being celebrated from people in the nearby buildings.
