Teen hospitalized after 'car surfing' in Center Moriches

Police say a teen is in the hospital this morning after reportedly "car surfing" on Sedgemere Road in Center Moriches.

According to police, the 16-year-old man was on the running board of a Jeep, clinging to the vehicle by a harness device when it snapped and he fell off the running board. The teen hit his head and was transported to the hospital.

Officials say the teen is being treated for head trauma and other non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for clinging to a vehicle.

According to police, the three other teenagers in the vehicle were between 16 and 17 years old.
