2 LI men accused in bicoastal marijuana ring

Police say a scheme to flood Long Island streets with hundreds of pounds of powerful marijuana has been busted.
According to police, two men have been arrested and accused in the conspiracy to bring 11 different kinds of potent, high-grade strains of California-grown marijuana to Long Island for resale.
Authorities say the men have been identified as alleged ringleader Brian Poole, 27, of Bellport, and his alleged chief reseller Eric Gomez, 29, of Calverton. Officials say both men were arrested June 10.
According to District Attorney Tom Spota, the duo dealt and trafficked about 960 pounds of marijuana with a wholesale value of $2.5 million. He says the operation began in May 2014.

Spota says Poole and Gomez used the United States Postal Service to ship their product.
"They were actually placing the marijuana in heat-sealed bags. They would then soak the bags with either bleach or Lysol," says Spota.
Investigators say once the premium pot was delivered to Poole's contacts in Suffolk, they would leave the packages outside and eventually mark them "return to sender" in an attempt to throw off police who may have been tracking them.
Poole is being held in the county jail in lieu of $1 million cash bail and a parole hold. Gomez was released on his own recognizance after his initial arraignment on drug charges in district court.
Officials say Poole is a prior violent felony offender who owns homes in Bellport and Bay Shore that were used as locations to prep the West Coast marijuana for sale to dealers and users in Suffolk County.
Both Poole and Gomez are due back in court on July 27.
