LIRR train misses Wyandanch stop
Long Island Rail Road riders say the 5:22 p.m. train from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma missed its first stop in Wyandanch Monday evening.
The train kept going until the Dix Hills station, where the next train to Wyandanch was not for more than an hour.
Commuters say they were worried something had happened to the engineer.
"For a second, I panicked," says Jeanie Wickes, a passenger on the train who lives in Dix Hills. "I thought maybe he had a heart attack, he was sick or maybe someone highjacked the train."
The LIRR says it's investigating the incident. The company plans to reimburse riders who faced additional travel expenses.
