23-year-old critically hurt in Wyandanch shooting
A man was critically injured in a Wyandanch shooting Sunday night, marking the third shooting in the area in less than a month.
Police say 23-year-old Taquan Caldwell was shot in the abdomen following an argument with two people in his home. The suspects ran off before police arrived at the scene.
Back on June 3, four people were shot in an SUV on Davidson Street in Wyandanch. One week later, a man was shot in the legs about a half-mile away in West Babylon.
Legislator Dwayne Gregory, who represents the area, said police have bolstered their presence in the area, but they need help from the community to address the problem.
"There's a local neighborhood watch; get involved," Gregory urged. "If you see something, say something, and it's as simple as that."
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
