Uber drivers face East End judge on license issues
Some East End Uber drivers faced a judge Monday for allegedly operating without proper licenses. Officials say 22 drivers were ticketed by police and are facing possible heavy fines, and even jail time.

Some East End Uber drivers faced a judge Monday for allegedly operating without proper licenses.
Officials say 22 drivers were ticketed by police and are facing possible heavy fines, and even jail time.
Uber, the taxi service that lets people use a smartphone app to order a cab, has gained popularity in communities around the world, including New York City.
Uber says it has operated in East Hampton for several years without incident. It says the town suddenly began enforcing a law requiring drivers to have a physical office address in the town.
Uber says that's not possible, and adds that it has temporarily suspended service in the town.
Most of the Uber drivers will be back in court July 20.
