Police: 1 arrested, 1 injured in Robert Moses brawl

Police say a beach brawl at Robert Moses State Park Monday landed one teen in the hospital and another in custody.

State Park Police say nearly 20 people including two groups of teens and young adults were fighting at Field 2 at around 3 p.m.

Sgt. Manny Vilar says a 15-year-old smashed a beer bottle over a 19-year-old's head, causing a severe laceration.

The 19-year-old was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he received stitches.

The 15-year-old was arrested and taken to State Park Police Headquarters in Babylon.

"They were drunk, intoxicated - broke out into a fight," Vilar said. "It's going to be a long, hot, bloody summer in state parks."

There were an estimated 32,000 people at Robert Moses on Monday.
