Medford nurse accused of stealing patients' medication
A nurse at the Medford Multicare Center for Living is accused of stealing patients' prescription medicine and taking them herself.
Police say Nicholle Gaveglia, 32, worked as a licensed practical nurse between June and July 2014. They say that on a number of occasions, Gaveglia would take prescription medications such as Percocet that were intended for patients. She would cover up her drug use by filing false reports in a log meant to keep track of medications, according to the attorney general.
Investigators say Gaveglia's drug use came to light when a supervisor asked her about missing medication. According to court documents, Gaveglia told the supervisor she had dropped the pills and wasted them.
Gaveglia pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of larceny, falsifying business records and possession of a controlled substance. Her father posted her $500 cash bail.
Geveglia is due back in court July 15.
This incident comes on the heels of an unrelated case, in which seven Medford employees went to trial in connection with a patient's death.
