Bridge demolition causes major LIRR delays

Those using the Long Island Rail Road this weekend can expect major delays.

There will be no train service between Hicksville and Mineola due to the demolition of the deteriorating Ellison Avenue Bridge.

Buses will be provided on the main line between the Hicksville and Mineola stations. There will also be buses for people at the Carle Place and Westbury stations.

LIRR officials suggest that riders plan on adding an additional 60 minutes to their commute time.

The work is expected to last through Sunday.
