Police: Teen tried to steal car with owner inside
A Uniondale teen has been arrested for allegedly trying to steal a running car and was caught after he was stopped by a person sleeping in the back seat.
Police say just before 5 a.m. yesterday Jordan Jackson jumped into an unlocked car on Fullerton Avenue.
As the teen drove, police say a 32-year-old man sleeping in the back seat woke up and starting fighting with Jackson.
The car hit another car, drove onto a front lawn and hit a chain link fence.
The man held the 17-year-old until police arrived.
Jackson was charged with two counts of robbery, unlawful imprisonment, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
His bail was set at $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash.
