Police: Shoplifter threatened workers, had loaded gun

Police in Riverhead say a man who was caught shoplifting at a Kmart store threatened to use a gun, and was later found to have a loaded weapon.
Authorities say 22-year-old Gage Johnson and a woman were spotted shoplifting at the store on Saturday. When the Medford man was approached by employees, he allegedly threatened them, and then fled.
Johnson's vehicle was spotted by police in the parking lot of a Target store nearby. Police say they found a loaded 9mm handgun in the car with him.
Johnson is being charged with third-degree criminal weapon possession, petit larceny and unlawful possession of marijuana.
