Students get close-up look at pond life

Fifth-grade students in Islip learned about water quality and organisms today with a trip to a local pond.

Students from Islip Middle School went to Pardees Pond to retrieve two bags that were placed in the water last fall. They got to learn about the various types of organisms that live in the pond.

The students also learned about the life cycle of pond organisms, and how they break down materials to make energy.
