Man struck, killed by LIRR train in Garden City

A man was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train west of the Garden City station Monday afternoon.



The man was hit about 200 feet west of the station.



Following the incident, service was suspended in both directions on the Hempstead branch between Hempstead and Jamaica.



Buses were sent to pick up about 30 passengers on the train.
