Suffolk police officer injured following accident on E/B Long Island Expressway
A Suffolk County officer was injured Monday morning when his vehicle was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer on the LIE during a construction detail.
Officials say Highway Patrol Bureau Officer Arthur Hull was in his vehicle diverting traffic off the LIE at exit 60 when the tractor-trailer struck the rear of the car. The police car then struck a guardrail.
News 12 Long Island has learned the tractor-trailer was owned by HS&S Trucking Corporation of Winter Garden, Florida, and was driven by Harrideo Persaud. Persaud is not expected to be charged.
The crash shut down the expressway by exits 59 and 60 for hours.
