Returning soldier receives hero’s welcome in Mastic

Army Specialist Frank Scott received a hero's welcome in Mastic Friday after serving two tours of duty in Afghanistan.

He had not been back at his home in 10 years, and was overwhelmed by the community response.

"I wasn't expecting this at all," said Scott. "I appreciate the entire community coming down to welcome me back."

Scott's family told News 12 that they plan on spending quality time with him.

Scott's mother, Diana Peterson, said she was very proud of her son.

"When he left, he was a teenager, but now he's a young man with a family and wife," she said.

Scott says he plans on joining the Air Force in the future.
