Neighbors oppose Salvation Army expansion plan

Opponents of a Salvation Army plan to build a new chapel and community center in Westbury say there are too many churches in the area.
The Salvation Army, located on Prospect Avenue, wants to raze its current building along with two others behind it and build a 24,000 square-foot area that has a community center and a chapel.
Neighbors in the area say it would create traffic and parking problems, especially on weekends, because there are four other churches in the surrounding area.
News 12 reached out to the Salvation Army about its plans. A representative says the organization just wants to be a good neighbor and help bring some good to the area.
