Nassau police have confirmed that there was no threat at 200 Garden City Plaza in Garden City near the Roosevelt Field Mall.
Police say a caller claimed there was a person with a gun and a possible hostage situation at around 2:30 p.m. Authorities say they swept the building and that everyone is safe.
The call prompted dozens of workers to evacuate the building. Many were sent home.
Police are investigating the incident as a possible instance of swatting - when a caller makes a false report to generate a large emergency response.
