Report: Coliseum workers receive layoff notices
Dozens of full-time employees and hundreds of part-time employees of the Nassau Coliseum have reportedly been notified of upcoming layoffs.
According to Newsday, 40 full-time and 2,500 part-time workers have received notice of summer layoffs, slated for after the Islanders leave the venue for Brooklyn.
It is unclear if the employees will be rehired after the Coliseum is renovated.
Developer Forest City Ratner plans to begin renovations at the venue in August, with a goal of reopening in 2016.
