Cops: Woman drove drunk in Yaphank with child in car

Police say a woman was arrested in Yaphank Friday night for allegedly driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle.

Colleen Lopez, 47, of Rocky Point, was stopped in a Chevy Tahoe on Patchogue Yaphank Road by an officer who is part of Suffolk police's Safe-T DWI enforcement team.

Police say an investigation revealed that Lopez was under the influence of alcohol. A 13-year-old female child was in the vehicle.

Lopez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say the child was turned over to a responsible adult.
