One Mineola student is using a 3-D printer to try to create a world without cancer and debilitating diseases.
Lara Acker, of Mineola, is making her creative ideas come to life using a 3-D printer and selling her creations to her classmates to raise money for charity.
The 10-year-old says that she has already created about 50 of the 3-D toys. She says all you have to do is come up with an idea, put it in the computer and send it to the printer.
Lara says that she is going to give the money she makes from the toys to charity. She hopes the toy sales will help children in the community with cerebral palsy and cancer.
The project has inspired Lara to think about becoming an art or science teacher in the future.
