Debate brews over new North Fork gasoline facility
A debate is brewing over plans on the North Fork for a new gasoline facility.
United Riverhead Terminal already has an oil terminal in Northville, and now it wants approval from Riverhead to expand into gasoline.
The plan includes storing gas pumped in through a pipeline from the Sound.
Local gas retailers say after the gas shortages during Sandy, having a gas facility on the Island is a good thing.
However, residents say they do not want more fuel trucks on the roads or the risk of accidents.
