Victim's family asks hit-and-run driver to come forward

The family of a hit-and-run victim in Suffolk County is asking the person responsible to come forward.

Jimmy Rice, 49, was struck by a vehicle as he crossed Carleton Avenue in East Islip Saturday morning.

Police believe a pickup truck heading south on Carleton Avenue struck the victim.

The Brentwood resident was rushed to Southside Hospital, with what his son Jimmy Rice Jr. described as very serious injuries.

"They did a number on him and whoever did it, they left him in the middle of the road to die," said the victim's son.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
