According to Dr. Wayne Waltzer, there are about 125,000 people currently waiting for kidney transplants around the United States.
"Unfortunately, just about 15,000+ transplants are performed yearly in the United States," said Waltzer.
Hospital CEO Dr. Reuven Pasternak says the hospital has performed about 1,500 transplants. Currently, they only perform kidney transplants, but they would like to perform other transplant procedures in the future.
