Some Long Island girls have a unique opportunity this summer, representing the United States in the international baton twirling competition.
However, in order to get there the team needs to raise $50,000.
The eight Long Island girls, called "Team Magic," are hoping to go the 2015 International Cup championships later this year to compete against 26 other countries.
Their twirling team, organized through the Our Lady of Mercy Youth Program, has won the state, regional and national titles.
The team is excited about qualifying for the competition in Canada this summer, but the girls are hoping the public can help raise money.
The team is holding a series of fundraisers while it tries to line up corporate sponsors.
