LIRR: Expect delays on Ronkonkoma branch

The LIRR is telling commuters on the Ronkonkoma branch to expect 15-25 minute delays east of Hicksville during tonight's commute.

The delays are being caused by damage to the signal system from this morning's derailment of a freight car near Wyandanch.

The railroad says trains will be operating at reduced speeds between Farmingdale and Wyandanch.

A post on the LIRR website says that crews are working to re-rail the freight car and repair the signal equipment.
