Charges upgraded for mom accused of DWI with child in car
Police say upgraded charges have been brought against an Amityville mom accused of driving drunk with her kids in the car.
Police say Benigna Pinedamata's infant and toddler were in the SUV with her when she drove onto a sidewalk at North East Elementary School.
The incident happened while Pinedamata was picking up her 5-year-old from kindergarten earlier this month at the Amityville school.
Pinedamata pleaded not guilty yesterday to upgraded felony charges under Leandra's Law.
Pinedamata is being held on $30,000 bail.
