Police: 11-year-old brought gun to Mastic Beach school

Police say an 11-year-old brought a gun into an elementary school in Mastic Beach.



School officials tell News 12 that the boy brought a handgun into the Tangier Smith Elementary School.



Police were called after a student told a teacher about the weapon, which was unloaded.



The 11-year-old suspect is charged with juvenile delinquency.



His dad, whose name is not being released to protect the identity of the child, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
