Westbound LIE lanes reopen after crash
Several lanes of the Long Island Expressway were reopened Tuesday afternoon after a crash temporarily shut down westbound traffic.
The westbound lanes were closed at around noon after a crash at Exit 53.
Police say a woman driving a Hyundai Accent lost control of the vehicle and struck the median. The vehicle clipped a pickup truck and struck the steel guardrail between the highway and the service road near the Sagtikos Parkway.
Authorities say the woman got out of her vehicle and began walking before collapsing. She was transported to Southside Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
