Oyster Bay official charged with tax evasion

Tax evasion charges have been filed against Town of Oyster Bay Commissioner of Planning and Development Fred Ippolito.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says that from 2008 to 2013, Ippolito received over $2 million in consulting fees from Old Bethpage paving company Lizza & Sons, but didn't report the income.

Ippolito is charged with six counts of tax evasion. The 76-year-old was arraigned this afternoon and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Ippolito faces up to 30 years in federal prison.

He is due back in court April 8.
