Man accused of leaving 6 kids home alone

Police say a man who faces an assault charge for an alleged domestic incident is also being charged for leaving six children home alone for several hours.
Police say they responded to a report about a domestic incident at around 10:45 p.m. Friday on East Somerset Road in North Amityville.
The six children were found alone and unsupervised. They range in age from 5 to 8 years old.
Boyd Carrington, 43, returned to the home about three hours later and was arrested. It's unclear where he was during that time.
Police say Carrington is the father of three of the children, and is the uncle of the three other children.
Boyd is being charged with six counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and also with third-degree assault for the domestic incident that prompted the police call.
Police say the children were released to a family member.
A woman who answered the door at the home today said the children are "fine," but declined to comment further.
