Stew Leonard's in Norwalk and hundreds of other stores across the U.S. and Canada have pulled romaine lettuce from their shelves amid another E. coli scare.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning consumers to throw out all romaine lettuce even if they ate some and didn't get sick.
The CDC says there have been over 30 confirmed E. coli cases, one of which was in Connecticut.
Stew Leonard's in Norwalk took any romaine off of its shelves within 45 minutes of the recall Tuesday.
Vice President of Stew Leonard's Les Slater says people shouldn't worry.
"It's unfortunate, something like this has to happen this time of year, but we have plenty of different kinds of lettuce," Slater says.
Slater says if you purchased romaine lettuce from Stew Leonard's, you can return it for a full refund.
The CDC is asking people to follow some steps to avoid any infection or contamination. They say to remove the romaine, wash items that may have been in contact with the lettuce and clean out the emptied fridge with a household cleaner.
Anyone with an E. coli infection is asked to report it to a local health department. People with the infection usually start to feel sick within three to four days.
