An event in Bushwick Saturday brought police closer together with the community they're protecting.
Soccer and handball battles were held at Heckscher Playground as part of the "Cops vs. Community" event, organized by the nonprofit group Tent.
Saturday's tournament was an icebreaker to bridge the gap between police officers and the Bushwick community.
Organizers say they hope simple interactions will help create a positive relationship and form lasting bonds.
