A new speed bump is on its way to Calhoun Avenue.
Community board members in Throgs Neck have been saying for years that the roadway between Phillip and Randall avenues is used as a shortcut by hasty drivers. The city's Department of Transportation is now taking a preventative step.
A spokesperson says the DOT noted a previous request for a speed bump on the roadway. The investigation was recently completed and the speed bump will be installed this fall.
The decision is good news for parents worried about safety, especially since the first week of school is quickly approaching.
