A 6-year-old girl was injured on her school bus Tuesday afternoon, sources tell News 12 Long Island.
A Longwood Central School District spokesperson confirms that an incident in which a student was injured on the way home occurred on a school bus.
Sources say three boys started pulling the girl's scarf from behind and began choking her.
Transportation officials say the bus driver followed protocol by pulling the bus over, opening the girl's jacket and calling a dispatcher who dialed 911.
The Longwood spokesperson says the girl was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with unknown injuries.
"Tomorrow, the school district will review the tapes from the school bus on which the incident occurred as well as interview every student who was present when the incident occurred," the spokesperson said in a statement.
The district and Suffolk County police are actively investigating the matter.
